Mahasiswa Perancis Rindu Agama / French Students Fly Religion

In the midst of the application of secular principles in public schools in France, their academic community of religious longing. This study comes from The High Council for Integration (HCI), which proves, there was a significant increase related issues with students from immigrant backgrounds, particularly related subjects about the Holocaust, the Crusades or evolution; demand for halal food, and the growing rejection of French culture and values.

"It becomes difficult for teachers to resist the pressure of religion," the report said, which was published in draft form by the Journal du Dimanche newspaper over the weekend. The final report will be submitted to the government next month.

"We must now reaffirm secularism and train teachers how to deal with specific issues related to respect for this principle," they wrote.

France imposed strict separation of religion and religion enter into the private domain. This approach, among others, opposed the Islamic identity which is now five million Muslim protests among the country's 65 million population.

President of HCI, Patrick Gaubert, told the newspaper that it decided to learn how students from immigrant backgrounds tailored to the public school system. "This is the core of the challenges faced by French society."

The report, which studied the various problems faced by students from immigrant backgrounds, nsmun not provide the level number of problems associated with religion.

The report said, teachers are often confronted with objections as they taught courses on world religions, the Holocaust or the French war in Algeria, or event is discussed related to Israel and the Palestinians or American military action in Muslim nations, the study said. "The teachers regularly find that Muslim parents reject their children learn about Christianity," he said. "Some people think that as a form of evangelism."
"Anti-Semitism was raised during the course lessons on the Holocaust, such as inappropriate jokes and the students refuse to watch films about the concentration camps the Nazis," he said. "Tensions often come from students who identify themselves as Muslims."

Teachers find they can discuss the transatlantic slave trade but met criticism from students when they brought up the history of slavery in Africa or the Middle East. Similarly, when explaining about Darwin's theory. "Evolution is opposed by students who place divine action or creationist with no argument for that."
In some areas with large immigrant populations, many students avoid the school cafeteria for religious reasons, although the menu offers other alternatives to pork. "The demand for halal menu is strong, even for very young people in schools kindergarten," he said. "In some cities, there is a petition for the provision of halal food in schools."

France allows private religious schools and the number of Jewish schools has increased in recent years. There are few Muslim schools but most parents will have difficulty paying school fees.

The report said French schools should be cooperative, apply the same rights, and mutual respect. Rejection would menumbuhsuburkan opposition. "Being a French citizen means a challenge to accept this person's opinion is the price paid for freedom of opinion and expression." We must remember that the crime of blasphemy does not exist in France since the French Revolution, is not it? "Concludes the report.
