311 Korban Mentawai Sudah Terdata

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com — Korban tewas akibat gelombang tsunami di Kabupaten Mentawai, Sumatera Barat, terus meningkat. Hingga Rabu (27/10/2010) malam, tercatat korban meninggal sudah mencapai 311 jiwa. Sementara korban luka 160 orang.

"Korban meninggal 311 dan yang hilang mencapai 410 orang," kata Gubernur Sumatera Barat Irwan Prayitno.

Irwan mengatakan, sebagian besar korban meninggal adalah warga yang tidak mengungsi saat gelombang tsunami melanda wilayah itu.

Untungnya, kata Irwan, tidak ada korban jiwa di dusun yang terdekat dengan pusat gempa. Sebelum tsunami menerjang, warga Dusun Surat Aban, dusun terdekat di pusat gempa, langsung mengungsi ke pegunungan sehingga tidak ada korban jiwa dari dusun tersebut.

"Sebelum tsunami datang, warga dusun itu sudah mengungsi ke pegunungan," kata Irwan.

Sementara itu, Kepala Pusat Pengendali Operasi BPBD Sumbar Ade Edward mengatakan, saat ini sejumlah bantuan dari pemerintah dan berbagai pihak sudah tiba di Mentawai. "Dua kapal yang membawa bantuan sudah datang di sana dengan membawa bantuan lengkap," ujarnya.

Saat ini para pengungsi masih berada di tenda-tenda pengungsian dan sebagian lagi ada di rumah-rumah masyarakat yang berada di pegunungan. "Mereka kan memiliki pertanian di pegunungan-pegunungan sehingga saat ini mereka berada di camp-camp yang letaknya di pegunungan," jelasnya.

Saat ini korban tsunami Mentawai membutuhkan pakaian, alas tidur, selimut, alat dapur, dan obat-obatan. "Pokoknya semua mereka butuhkan karena barang-barang yang ada di rumah mereka habis tersapu tsunami," katanya.

"Before the tsunami came, the villagers had already fled to the mountains," said Irwan.

Meanwhile, Chief of Operations Control Center West Sumatra BPBD Ade Edward said, now some help from the government and various parties have arrived in Mentawai. "Two ships carrying aid have arrived there with a full help," he said.

Currently, the refugees still in camps and partly in the public houses in the mountains. "They have a farm in the mountains so that today they are in camps located in the mountains," he explained.

Currently Mentawai tsunami victims need clothing, bedding, blankets, kitchen equipment, and medicines. "Anyway, all they needed because of goods that exist in the tsunami wiped out their homes," he said.
